Tiles

A collection of tile materials I created in Substance Designer. In this set, I wanted to explore several types of tiles, each with a different area of focus.

For the first material, I focused on aging, chipping, and dust build up. I also added a slight variation to each pattern for a more hand painted look.

For the Parisian Metro station I really liked the slight color difference and how dirt built up in the edges of the green tiles that I saw in the reference. I tried to recreate that, plus add some more texture within the blue painted tiles.

Finally, for the teal hand cut mosaic tiles, I wanted to create a more complex interlocking pattern within Designer. I also took this as an opportunity to play around with the roughness and normals to get a more interesting break up as light passed over the different tiles.
